Angel Sloza: The Soulful Dialogue of Flowers and Light

Angel Sloza was born in 1971 in the industrial city of Vuhledar, Ukraine. From an early age, she showed a natural passion for creativity and artistic expression. She graduated from a comprehensive secondary school and a School of Fine Arts, where she received her first formal education as an artist. Her early training laid the foundation for a lifelong relationship with color, form, and emotion.

To expand her creative knowledge, Angel continued her studies at Kyiv University, where she specialized in fashion design. Her education introduced her to the principles of composition, aesthetics, and artistic craftsmanship, which would later influence her fine art practice. She later graduated from the Donbass Academy of Architecture, a step that deepened her understanding of structure and spatial harmony, both of which became essential elements in her paintings.

Career and Life in Dnipro

In 2002, Angel Sloza moved to the city of Dnipro, one of Ukraine’s major cultural and industrial centers. There she worked in a scientific and design organization, combining technical precision with creative problem-solving. Yet, despite her professional success, she felt a growing inner need to return to painting as her true form of self-expression.

Longing to capture the beauty of her homeland on canvas, she began to devote more time to studying fine art and later to teaching in Dnipro’s art community. This period marked a turning point in her artistic journey, as she began to form her own visual language grounded in emotion, sensitivity, and symbolic storytelling.

The Artistic Vision

Angel Sloza’s paintings are centered on the symbolic and emotional language of flowers. Through her floral still lifes, she conveys both the visible beauty and the invisible emotional energy that flowers hold. For her, flowers are more than natural subjects; they are carriers of human feelings, capable of expressing tenderness, peace, and spiritual balance.

She approaches each work as a dialogue with nature a conversation not in words, but through colors, textures, and emotions. On her canvases, petals become expressions of fragility and endurance, while backgrounds often reflect the harmony or tension of the world around us. Her art brings together the magical calm of nature and the complexity of human experience, creating a sense of both tranquility and introspection.

Style and Technique

Angel Sloza’s artistic style is marked by variety and experimentation. Her collection includes more than 100 paintings executed in different styles and genres, such as pop art, art deco, floral still life, and animalistic art. Despite this diversity, all her works share a distinct emotional warmth and recognizable touch.

She often works with oil paints and textured paste, applying the impasto technique to give her paintings a tactile, almost sculptural surface. This method allows her to bring depth and movement to her compositions, making the flowers and forms appear alive. Her balanced use of color and texture creates a visual rhythm that invites the viewer into a state of calm reflection.

For Angel, painting must be recognizable not necessarily in style alone, but in the sincerity and individuality that radiate from every brushstroke. This belief has made her works stand out at exhibitions, where audiences are drawn to the emotional clarity and inner peace her art conveys.

Exhibitions and Recognition

Angel Sloza has participated in numerous art exhibitions across Ukraine, gaining increasing recognition for her work. In recent years, her paintings have been displayed in five exhibitions, three of which were solo presentations. Each exhibition reveals a new chapter of her creative growth, showcasing her ability to merge traditional beauty with contemporary sensibility.

Her exhibitions are celebrated for their atmosphere of light, serenity, and warmth. Viewers often describe her paintings as meditative works that invite them to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with their emotions.

Artwork Highlight: Eternity (2023)

Among Angel Sloza’s notable works is the 2023 painting titled Eternity. Created with oil paints, textured paste, and using the impasto technique, this piece captures a deep emotional and visual harmony.

The blue reflections on the lake’s surface convey feelings of cool melancholy that gradually shift toward a calm and optimistic serenity. The surrounding mountains symbolize grandeur and timeless endurance, standing as silent guardians of eternal peace. Through this composition, Angel explores the connection between the human soul and the boundless space of nature.

The idea behind Eternity is to evoke a sense of inner peace and stability, reducing anxiety and offering the viewer a moment of meditative stillness. It embodies her belief that art has the power to heal, calm, and restore emotional balance.

Beyond the Canvas

Angel Sloza leads an active and purposeful life. She has raised and supported the higher education of her two children, balancing family, art, and community involvement with grace. Alongside her artistic practice, she conducts free yoga master classes, promoting mindfulness and self-care within her community.

Her compassion extends beyond people to animals as well. She is an active volunteer dedicated to the protection of homeless animals. Despite her busy schedule, she dreams of taking a week-long journey through Ukraine and Europe to find inspiration in the landscapes and cultures she encounters.

The Essence of Angel Sloza’s Art

At the heart of Angel Sloza’s work lies a profound connection to life, nature, and emotion. Her art reveals a deep empathy for the world around her and a desire to share harmony through color and form. Each of her paintings reflects her inner dialogue with the universe a quiet expression of gratitude, beauty, and peace.

Through her floral imagery and lyrical use of texture, Angel Sloza reminds us that even amid uncertainty, beauty remains eternal. Her art stands as a gentle reminder that through creativity and compassion, we can rediscover balance, hope, and emotional strength.
